BERLIN — White Mountains Community College will offer a tuition free four-week session of WorkReadyNH at the Berlin campus starting Tuesday, Dec. 20. This valuable professional development training focuses on soft skills and critical thinking skills, helping job seekers – and those seeking career advancement - to improve skills employers cite as critical to workplace success.
WorkReadyNH helps participants improve and document skill levels and articulate how their skills match those needed for employment. Soft skill topics include problem solving, effective communication, conflict resolution, critical elements of customer service and building better teams. The online, hard skills training and assessments in applied mathematics, reading for information and locating information build and document skill levels.
As part of the training, participants are able to hear direct from area employers and human resource specialists what employers really want in a highly sought-after employee or applicant. Graduates earn two credentials: The National Career Readiness Certificate and the WMCC WorkReadyNH Certificate.
According to WorkReadyNH Program Director, Judy Woodward, “Classes typically include participants of all education levels and employment histories. Whether someone is just entering the workplace for the first time or they have worked in a field for many years, the class has something to offer. Due to requests from employers and part time workers, we recently adjusted the class schedule to allow more currently employed people to attend, holding classes just three days per week for four weeks: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m”.
“WorkReadyNH continues to receive rave reviews from graduates and employers alike” said Woodward. “Graduates report that the training helped them to be better prepared for the job search process and for the workplace in general. Employers are recognizing the value of our graduates and we regularly receive requests for WorkReadyNH graduates to apply for open positions. It’s a “win-win” for the WorkReadyNH graduate and for the employer”.
Registration is required, and those who wish to take advantage of this tuition free training may call (603) 342-3099 or (603) 342-3007. More information is available on the White Mountains Community College website: www.wmcc.edu; under the “Workforce Development” tab.
