Berlin Main Street Program rolls out new site to promote downtown

BERLIN — Highlighting the area’s attractions, the Berlin Main Street Program hopes to garner more excitement about what the region has to offer with a new website promoting Berlin’s Main Street.

Main Street’s theme of “Eat, Shop & Explore” can be seen throughout Berlin’s downtown on banners, and can now be found on a new website promoting the areas, restaurants, shops and activities.

Originally thought of as a brochure, chair of the Main Street Program Sylvia Poulin, ultimately decided that the project could be more flexible to support the changing economy as a website.

As part of the promotion plan for the site, the Main Street Program created a postcard with general information about the new website and give-a-ways for local events and activities.

Paying homage to the city’s history, the postcard features images like St. Anne’s Church, Heritage Park and downtown Berlin. The promotional postcard can be found throughout the downtown at restaurants and shops.

The site is also promoted through the Main Street’s Facebook page, and according to Poulin has been shared quite a bit by the Androscoggin Valley Chamber of Commerce.

“We’ve been working with Paula Kinney from the chamber, and she has been fabulous about sharing it,” said Poulin.

The site created by Pam Sullivan of Sullivan Creative, features sections on where to eat, places to shop and what’s going on in area. There is also a section for events and activities for people to explore.

Promoting more than just downtown Berlin, the site also features businesses throughout Berlin.

Poulin explained that the site is not just for people visiting the area, but serves as a source of information for local residents as well.

“We are trying to promote Berlin, and get people to see what’s going on,” said Poulin.

On top of being a resource for local information, the Berlin Main Street Program is currently raffling off adventure ticket pages for upcoming events.

The prizes include four tickets to the Jericho ATV Festival and event T-shirts, $25 in Wing Bucks for Wingzilla, four tickets for RiverFire Hayride and four tickets to Camp RZR.

To qualify for the drawing you just have to visit the Berlin Main Street Program’s website and enter your name, email and zip code.

By entering you will also receive regular updates of activities and future promotional raffles.
