The Coos Economic Development Corporation is accepting applications for its fall 2017 grant round. From a grant perspective, Coos Economic Development Corporation accepts proposals from nonprofit organizations and community groups serving Coos County. Non-profit organizations and community groups working in the areas of economic development are encouraged to apply.
CEDC has announced several enhancements to its grant process. Some of the changes included a competitive, well-defined, twice-per-year, grant application process, and a maximum funding amount of $2,500 per application. Go to coosedc.org for more details. According to CEDC, the goal is to create greater awareness of the availability of these funds and to get wider and more diverse set of organizations competing for and awarded these funds.
CEDC manages the Coos County Economic Development Fund on behalf of the county commissioners and delegation. These funds are used for both loans and grants and prioritize the identification of initiatives that benefit the region’s economic growth. The CEDC’s main goals when using the fund are the stimulation of consumer spending, providing support for prospective entrepreneurs and current small business owners, and the attraction of new businesses to Coos County.
Successful grant applicants in the last round included the Androscoggin Valley Chamber of Commerce (for the Camp RZR Festival), the St. Kieran Community Center for the Arts and the Millsfield ATV Club. Prior recipients include the Colebrook Moose Festival, WREN Berlin Makerspace and the North Country Endurance Challenge. The next application deadline is Sept. 15.
