LANCASTER — The Scottish trio Cantrip will return to Lancaster to perform at the Rialto Theatre on Tuesday, April 18, at 7 p.m.
"We are pleased to have this opportunity to work again with the folks at the Rialto Theatre on Main Street in downtown Lancaster," said GNWCA President Charlie Jordan. "It’s been a few years since we’ve sponsored a show in Lancaster. We’re hoping to have a good turnout for Cantrip and be able to bring more world-class performers to Lancaster."
According to a release submitted by GNWCA, Cantrip has been breaking boundaries in the tradition, touring extensively throughout Scotland and the United States. Known for its innovative arrangements, sound and dry wit, this power trio can be seen on some of the largest Celtic stages in the world. From the strong base of its Celtic roots, their music branches out into, and takes influences from, the music of other European cultures. Weaving together songs and tunes, both traditional and contemporary, Cantrip takes an audience on a cultural journey, putting their own spin on each style.
Members include Dan Houghton on bagpipes, flute, whistles, guitar, bouzouki, vocals; Jon Bews on fiddle and vocals; and rounding out the trio, Eric McDonald on guitar, mandolin, bouzouki and vocals.
"Our loyal GNWCA audience and music fans in the region will enjoy this wonderful show at the Rialto," said Jordan. "If you’ve never been to one of our shows, be sure to come and find out what everyone’s been talking about."
Tickets are available at the Rialto Theatre, 80 Main St., Lancaster; Fiddleheads, 110 Main St., Colebrook, or at the door on the night of the show. Tickets are $15.
