Kirstan Knowlton: A full lineup of events this weekend

If you thought last week’s lineup was great, just wait until you see this one. This weekend features two concert performances, one historical presentation and a gigantic barn sale to benefit the historical society.

And people say there’s never anything to do.

Kicking things off tonight at 7:30 p.m., the Heather Pierson Acoustic Trio will perform at the Medallion Opera House in Gorham Tickets are just $12, and can be purchased at the door.

Then in Friday night, settle in for a presentation by Carl E. Lindblade of the University of New Hampshire's Speakers Bureau on "A Hotel Goes to Peace, Not War; The story of the Mount Washington Hotel and the International Monetary Conference at Bretton Woods.” This free presentation will take place at the Randolph Town Hall and starts at 6:30 p.m.

On Saturday you might want to wake up early to get on over to the Brown Company Barns for their yard and barn sale to benefit the Berlin and Coos Historical Society. Located on the East Milan Rd., near the state prison, the sale will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Rounding off the weekend, on Sunday, Jerry Rittenhouse, his wife Lauren his daughter, Julie and his son, David, all cellists, along with his sister, Connie, pianist, will present a free concert at St. Kieran Community Center for the Arts at 2 p.m.

Before I let you go, I just have to talk about the overwhelming success that we had for the opening day of the Berlin Community Market. Between the variety of vendors, the supporters who came out to say hello and of course the beautiful weather, we couldn’t have asked for a better day.

I’ve always believed that our community spirit is what makes Berlin a wonderful place to live and visit, and it was great to catch up with old friends, and even better to make new ones.

I hope to see everyone next week at the community market. You might have noticed a piano during your visit, but you won’t recognize it for long. Next week for just $1 you will have the chance to leave your mark on the community market by painting a square on the piano. Don’t consider yourself an artist? That’s okay; we just want you to have fun!
