Coming directly from Ireland, the band Goitse will be performing at the Rialto Theatre beginning at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 6. Named after an informal Gaelic Irish greeting meaning “come here,” event organizers say that Goitse is one of the most in-demand young groups to come out of the Emerald Isle today.
“It is a pleasure to team up with Dave Fuller and the folks at the Rialto Theatre again, as we have in the past, to bring one of our showcase international bands to their wonderful downtown venue,” said Charlie Jordan, president of the Great North Woods Committee for the Arts. “This convenient and comfortable location will assure you a good seat for what will be one of the shows of the year.”
Goitse has released four critically acclaimed recordings and maintains a year-round touring schedule that includes performances throughout Ireland and the United Kingdom, Germany, France and the United States. According to the committee, the group’s distinctive sound lies in the quality of their own compositions interspersed with traditional tunes from the countryside of Ireland and abroad, which make each performance unique.
Tickets for Goitse are $15 and can be purchased in advance at the Rialto box office on Main Street in Lancaster and at Fiddleheads on Main Street in Colebrook. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.gnwca.org or at the door. Goitse is co-sponsored by Gaynor-Knecht Farm Friendly Insurance.
