BERLIN —The Berlin and Coos County Historical Society will hold its next barn sale on Saturday, Sept. 9, at the historic Brown Company barns. The barns are located on the East Milan Road in Berlin about one mile north of the hospital and across from the state prison entrance. As usual, this sale will take place rain or shine from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Organizers of the event have asked that people do not come early.
This is the annual fall decorations and Halloween sale. Everything for your decorating needs! Table cloths, candy jars and bowls, scarecrows with hats, etc. There is also a fair amount of spooky, scary-themed books.
These specialty items are in addition to the regular departments: baskets, sports, records, cloth, books and more. Large print books are with the audio books; the furniture department is located on the lower level of the larger barn. There is also a large selection of picture frames, both large and small, in both barns.
Proceeds from the yard sales go towards expenses to keep open the Moffett House Museum and Genealogy Center and to help preserve the barns. The museum, located at 119 High St. in Berlin, is open year-round, Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 4 p.m. or by appointment. Call (603) 752-4590 for an appointment or to arrange for a group tour of the museum. Admission is free. Donations are graciously accepted.
The last sale of the 2017 season will be held on Saturday, Sept. 30.
