Compline Choir to Sing at St. Barnabas in December

Need to relax, decompress, breathe? The Compline Choir returns with relaxing, meditative chant which brings calm, healing and composure to those who sing, as well as to those who listen. A group of singers from around the community will be chanting the office of Compline at 7:15 p.m. each Sunday evening at St. Barnabas in Berlin beginning with Sunday, Dec. 3, and continuing for the following Sundays leading to Christmas Eve.

The singing of Compline during the Advent season, presents degrees of readiness for Christmas with focus on chanted prayers, silence, anthems, sung Psalms and hymns chosen for each special Sunday.

To join in the singing of Compline, contact the director, Susan Ferre, director of music and organist at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, located at 2 High St. in Berlin, by calling (603) 466-2865, or through Music in the Great North Woods, a non-profit organization which also supports the Compline Choir.

The event, lasting less than half an hour, includes candles and incense burning in a darkened church. All are welcome. There is no charge.
