ATV ROUTE expansionFrom left: District 1 Executive Councilor Joe Kenney, state Sen. Jeff Woodburn of Whitefield, Ted Miller of North Stratford, Vermont ATV Sportsman's Association executive director Danny Hale and Harry Brown of Stewartstown attended a ceremonial event on Friday, June 30, to open the North Stratford/Bloomfield, Vt., Bridge to ATV traffic. A cooperative effort between the Vermont ATV Sportsman's Association, the state Trails Bureau, state Department of Transportation and the Vermont Agency of Transportation has reached an agreement to allow both New Hampshire- and Vermont-registered all-terrain vehicles to cross state lines on approved Vermont state highways in order to provide riders with access to local Vermont businesses from the Ride the Wilds' 1,000 miles of interconnected trails. The agreement connects North Stratford and Bloomfield, Vt., via Route 105, giving access to DeBanville’s General Store and Cafe. State Sen. Jeff Woodburn says he anticipates that VTrans will soon also open sections of Vermont Routes 102 and 114, allowing riders to go from Colebrook to Lemington and Canaan. (COURTESY PHOTO)
