'Give 10 to Education' supply drive collected items for local schools

GORHAM — The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 82 recently held its seventh annual “Give 10 to Education” program, where members collected school supply items to be distributed to local children in need.

The collection drive was held over the Labor Day Weekend and the brought in more than 1,200 items, a 63 percent increase from last year. These items were sorted by age and delivered to the Gorham Learning Center, the Ed Fenn Elementary School and the Gorham Middle School.

“All items are greatly appreciated by the schools and teachers; this will aide in relief of students, who would otherwise be without. All items are passed out at the teacher’s discretion to those who are in need of these school supplies. We thank you for your much appreciated gift to your community and its future citizens,” said Linda Dupont, education chairman, on behalf of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 82.
