The second annual Lois Alger reading challenge awards were presented to Milan Village School students. Lois Alger was a freelance writer and reporter/photographer for the Berlin Reporter and The Berlin Daily Sun. Alger loved to garden, horses and reading. As librarian at the Milan Public Library, she worked to improve the library and to encourage reading. Bob Chapman and Lois's family and friends created the Alger Reading Challenge and donated prizes in her memory to promote the love of reading. In addition, all Milan Village School students received a T-shirt, to remind them to read every day.
