The American Legion Auxiliary of Gorham Unit 82 will be holding its seventh annual school supply collection on Sept. 2, 3 and 4.
A collection container will be available at 6 Church St. in Gorham, located across from Holy Family Church and the First Congregational Church from 8 a.m. until noon on the listed dates.
Needed items would be pencils, pens, rulers, erasers, one-subject notebooks, tissues, crayons, colored markers, highlighters, backpacks, project boards, construction paper, craft supplies, index cards and disinfectant wipes.
Items are sorted according to age and distributed to the Gorham Learning Center, the Ed Fenn Elementary School and the Gorham Middle School. These supplies are then distributed to the students by school officials on an as needed basis. Due to community effort and American Legion Auxiliary members over 700 items were collected and distributed to local students in need in 2016.
