WHITEFIELD —The first team captain’s meeting for the Relay For Life of North Country will be held on Tuesday, March 21. The meeting will be held at the Bank of N.H. in Whitefield at 6 p.m. The meeting is in preparation for the signature event of The American Cancer Society. This year’s Relay For Life event is scheduled to be held at the Lancaster Fairgrounds. The Relay will have opening ceremonies Saturday, June 24, at 6 p.m. and end with the closing ceremonies on Sunday morning June 25, at 6 a.m. This year’s theme is “A Day At The Beach”.
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is an overnight celebration where individuals and teams camp out, barbeque, play games and take turns walking around a track relay-style to raise awareness and funds to fight cancer. At nightfall, participants will light hundreds of luminaria around the track in a moving ceremony to honor cancer survivors, as well as friends and family members lost to the disease.
This year’s event is the first joint Relay, combining the Berlin-Gorham teams with the North Country teams. All are welcome to participate at the Relay, but more teams are always welcome.
