Badger Realty North donates stuffed bears to Androscoggin Valley Hospital

BERLIN — What’s more cause for celebration than when a new life enters this world? Nothing, according to Badger Realty North, which is why they have donated “Badger Bears” to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in hopes of sharing the joy with new parents and celebrating their special day. The stuffed bears, which were delivered to the hospital by Badger Realty North staff, will be distributed to newborns through the Women’s Services Department.

Rhonda Lapointe, a member of the Badger Realty North support staff, suggested the idea to Badger Realty Managing Partner Brenda Leavitt.

Lapointe explains, “My sister, Rebecca Woodward is on the women’s services staff at AVH, and my husband always donates to the New Year’s Baby there, so I asked Brenda if we could do something to welcome newborns.”

“When Rhonda mentioned the bears, I thought it was a wonderful idea. I told her that a friend had delivered a ‘diabetes bear’ to me and I was so comforted by this adorable little bear that when Rhonda brought the idea up, I immediately jumped on board — knowing how that little diabetes bear sits on my desk and when I am missing Miranda (for whom the Miranda Center for Diabetes & Endocrinology at Memorial Hospital in North Conway is named), I hug the bear and somehow feel, Miranda is right there!” Leavitt said.

Lapointe continues, “The staff at AVH were delighted to receive the bears as they know the difference a stuffed animal to hug can make to a child’s experience at the hospital. And the first mother and dad to receive one for their newborn were delighted, too!”
