Patry receives master's degree

 

GORHAM — James Patry, a resident of Gorham and son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Patry recently earned his master of science degree in communications management from the S.l. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.

According to the university's website, "In its 20th year, this fully accredited program includes courses from the Newhouse School as well as the Martin 1. Whitman School of Management and the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs"

A two-year hybrid program which included residencies in Syracuse and New York City, N.Y., the program's studies included courses in managerial finance, public relations theory, public relations law, accounting, strategic management, public relations research, marketing management, public relations management and reputation management. Patry's final capstone project focused on the connection between organizational communication and employee morale. He presented his research findings to university professors, staff, peers and graduates earlier this month.

The public relations and marketing director at Androscoggin Valley Hospital, Patry is also completing studies through Plymouth State University for his master of business administration degree. A graduation date in May 2016 is anticipated.

 

Shaink accepted at White Mountains Community College

BERLIN — The office of Student Affairs at White Mountains Community College recently announced that Michael Shaink has been accepted into the welding technology program for the academic year 2015. Shaink is a 1974 graduate of Berlin High School. Currently, Shaink is employed at Omni Hotels and Resorts in Bretton Woods, in the receiving department. He is the son of Victor and Bibiane Shaink of Berlin.

Golden Wedding Anniversary

Edmond and Louise Walsh celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with family on July 1 in Portland, ME. Their celebration started with an invitation sent to them from their granddaughter who lives in Maine. The invitation stated their granddaughter was participating in an equestrian event, but needless to say, the Walsh's were surprised to find an Anniversary party waiting for them instead.

Riley, Lozier engaged to wed

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Parslow of Berlin are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jennifer Lynn Riley of Raymond to Christopher Steven Lozier of Raymond, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Lozier of Berlin.
