William L. Bryant of Wilsons' Mills, Maine, and Vero Beach, Fla., passed away on May 1, 2017, weeks after celebrating his 80th birthday. Bill suffered a hemorrhagic stroke in August 2014, and had been successfully rehabilitating with the assistance of amazing therapists and personal trainers.
Being a "snow bird" in Vero Beach for several years, Bill was a volunteer with Youth Sailing Foundation of IRC, maintaining the motorized fleet of watercraft essential to the program. He was also known as the "drill master" when the local Power Squadron undertook the Oyster Mat Project.
Bill was the only child of William (Bill) Hicks Bryant and Isabel Gallant of Wilsons Mills, Maine. The family operated Bill Bryant's Camps for many years.
Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years. He and Pat have three children: Carol, Bill, and Michael, all of whom were with their dad when he passed peacefully at Hospice House in Vero Beach. Bill is also survived by granddaughters, Kiele and Sadie Bryant of Westfield, Mass.
Bill's remains will be committed in Wilsons' Mills, Maine, at a "Homecoming and Celebration of Life." Services will be at the Community Church and Cemetery at noon on August 19, 2017.
