Gorham American Legion to hold benefit dance
Published Date
GORHAM -- Dpont-Holmes, Post 82, Gorham is hosting a benefit dance on Friday, August 10, at the post clubroom for Legionnaire Roy Newton and family. The dance begins at 7 p.m. and the music will be by Bill and Denise and friends. The charge is $5.Roy, a longtime member of Post 82, has been hospitalized in Portland, Maine, since June 3, with major health issues. His wife, Mary, has been staying in South Portland to be close to Roy, and their children and families, have been traveling from Gorham to be with him. In honor of the Newton family, and to show our appreciation of their undying dedication and respect, to our veterans and our community, American Legion Post 82 would like to say "thank you" by assisting with a small portion of their expenses.
Roy and Mary were the driving force in getting the Veteran's Traveling Wall in Gorham and proudly support all community activities. Please help us show our appreciation by attending this function and help our fellow members of the American Legion Family. Roy is making good progress at this time and we look forward to welcoming he and his whole family back home to Gorham.
