Gorham man indicted on sexual assault charges

A Gorham man has been indicted by a Coos County Grand Jury on a total of ten counts including sexual assault of a juvenile, indecent exposure, endangering the welfare of a child, and possession of child pornography.

Jamie F. Letarte, 42, Gorham, was indicted on October 31 on two counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault involving a juvenile female who was between 13 and 16 years old at the time of the assaults, which allegedly occurred between October 2010 and October 2011.

He was also indicted on one count of indecent exposure and lewdness for allegedly exposing him to and masturbating in the presence of that same juvenile and one count of endangering the welfare of a child for allegedly trying to convince that juvenile to provide him with a video of her having sex with her boyfriend.

Letarte was also indicted on six counts of possession of child sexual abuse images. He allegedly had in his possession images of female juveniles in various positions.

Three other local residents were indicted on charges of first and second degree assaults.

Jeremiah R. Eastman, 31, Berlin, was indicted on one count each of first and second degree assaults. He has also been charged with two misdemeanor counts of simple assault.

The charges stem from an incident that allegedly occurred on August 13. According to the indictments, Eastman cut the forearm of a female with a razor blade, tried to strangle her, struck her causing bruises and confined her.

Phillip Pemberton, 37, Berlin, was indicted on one count of second degree assault. According to the indictment, on Aug. 4 he allegedly struck a female in the face.

Kevin Lee Steady, 48, Gorham, was indicted on one count of second degree assault. According to the indictment last Christmas Eve, he allegedly caused serious bodily injury to another person.

Matthew Ryan Jones, 22, Berlin, was indicted on one count of possession of a controlled drug with intent to sell. According to the indictment, he allegedly had between one and five grams of crack cocaine in his possession last June, which he intended to sell.

Indictments of individuals from other communities in the county include the following:

Davian Haverstick 38, Groveton, was indicted on two counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault and two counts of felonious sexual assault relating to incidents involving a female juvenile who was less than 13 when the incidents allegedly began around March 2011. The charges alleged the assaults ended this September.

He was also charged with two misdemeanor counts of sexual assault for allegedly touching the same victim on her breasts and buttocks.

Kasey Parsons-Sweatt, 30, Pittsburg, was indicted on one count of burglary and Aaron Sweatt, 31, West Stewartstown, on one count of criminal liability for the conducts of another, burglary. According to the indictments on February 19 Sweatt allegedly stood watch while Parsons-Sweatt entered a Colebrook home with the purpose to commit theft.

Damon J. Chase, 53, Lunenburg, VT., was indicted on two counts of burglary. According to the indictments, on Febrary 27 and April 19, Chase entered a home in Lancaster for the purpose to commit theft.

Two Dalton men were indicted on charges stemming from an incident that occurred on July 3 in Lancaster.

Patrick Grimard, 31, and David A. Sargent, 41, were both indicted on one count of theft by unauthorized taking and one count of conspiracy theft by unauthorized taking each.

According to the indictments, the two men allegedly acted in concert with each other and another person to take groceries without paying for them from Shaw's Supermarket in Lancaster.

The indictments allege both men have been convicted of theft of property or services before, Grimard in Littleton District Court in 2007 and Conway District Court in 2004, and Sargent in Belknap Superior Court in 1992 and 1994.

Craig A. Nelsson, 52, Colebroom was indicted on one count of controlled drug act; acts prohibited, manufacture of a controlled drug. According to the indictment, Nelsson allegedly manufactured a quantity of marijuana by cultivating numerous plants, the total weight of which was over five pounds.
