NCF Jailbirds to hold fundraiser

BERLIN -- The NCF Jailbirds are sponsoring Peter Gross, Boston’s Comedy Hypnotist. Peter will perform his show “GET HYPNOTIZED” at the Town & Country Motor Inn and Resort on May 31,  at 8 p.m. Tickets for the show are $15 and can be purchased at the Town & Country Motor Inn and Resort or call 752-0345.

Men’s group presents 'Boy Scouts of America-What is it really all about?'

GORHAM --The Boy Scout program is the largest youth group organization in the world.  It has been immortalized in the famous Life magazine cover art of Norman Rockwell in the ‘60s.  Its history is intertwined with our own country’s history also. Ed Gibson, scouter, has been involved with the Boy Scout program, from working with the youngest members, to training of Eagle Scouts, to handling administrative responsibilities for over 34 years. He will be sharing the history of this venerable, well loved and sometimes controversial program, from its roots in Europe to its impact on our society today on May 10.
The program will be held at the Gorham Congregational/UCC on Main Street, Gorham. Breakfast is served at 7 a.m., with a free will donation for the Ecumenical Food Pantry in Berlin.  The presentation will begin shortly after breakfast is served. Salvation Army camp spots open

BERLIN -- The Salvation Army still has spots open for Camp Sebago for this summer. Camp session dates are August 7 to August 12.
Camp Sebago is located in Standish, Me., off Sebago Lake. It is a sleep away camp run by The Salvation Army. Camp has beautiful cabins, swimming, crafts and three meals a day. Each cabin has two adults to supervise the campers. All of this at just a cost of $45 a child! Please call (603)752-1644 for more information.

Downs benefit dinner

BERLIN -- There will be a benefit dinner for Diane (Downs) Allen on Saturday, May 25, from 1 to 4 p.m at the VFW in Berlin. The benefit is to help with expenses for Diane's lung cancer. BABE RUTH BASEBALL; Age 13–15 based on boy’s age as of April 30. Register now to become a member of the Berlin Pats’ team! Fee is $55.00 per person. Team will travel throughout the North Country. Season games during the month of June. Please bring either a birth certificate or last season’s Cal Ripken card when registering at the Berlin Recreation Center. SUMMER BASKETBALL FOR GRADES 3 – 5: Continue your basketball skills throughout the summer. IS IT WHOLE GRAIN?: Learn to recognize true whole grain. Samples, recipes, and fun activities! A 3-session educational program for adults, 60 and older. Come join us at Berlin Recreation for some playful activities and discussions while learning more about the benefits of whole grain. Mondays, 10:15 - 11:30 a.m. on July 01, 08, and 15.
