Groveton resident, Elba Hawes, 17, was injured after crashing into a parked car on Eames Street in Groveton Oct. 23.
Officials say that he was leaving his home on his ATV when he became distracted by pedestrians on the sidewalk and crashed into a parked car. The Groveton EMS along with the Groveton Police Department were first to arrive at the scene, with Conservation Officers arriving shortly thereafter. The Groveton EMS gave initial care to Hawes and then transported him to Weeks Medical Center for further treatment.
Initial investigation at the scene confirms that the driver may have been distracted; however the investigation is still ongoing at this time. Hawes was the only person involved in the crash. He was wearing a helmet and sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries.
