PITTSFIELD, Maine — A Gorham, N.H., man died after he was struck by a tractor-trailer on I-95 in Pittsfield, Maine.
Dustin Smithurst, 27, died overnight at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine, according to a release from Maine State Police.
Smithurst’s car had skidded into the median and struck some trees off the northbound lane at about 5:45 p.m. A wrecker stopped to assist him and Smithurst was standing by the passing lane when a Hannaford tractor-trailer struck him. No charges were filed against the truck driver, Adrien Doyon, 54, of Saco, Maine.
Smithurst was a 2008 graduate of Berlin High school. His Facebook page indicates last year he received a certificate from the School of Biblical Evangelism and was involved with The Salvation Army.
