BERLIN — The Berlin-based White Mountain Distributors is being sold to New Hampshire Distributors LLC of Concord, with the transaction scheduled to close in March.
Sold will be White Mountain Distributors’ territory, which covers the northern third of the state, along with various brands of beer and nonalcoholic beverages it distributes.
White Mountain Distributors’ parent company, Clarke Distributors Inc., is also being sold to Bellavance Beverage of Nashua. Headquartered in Keene, Clarke Distributors covered the southwestern section of the state. All four companies involved carry a similar product line with a major component being Anheuser-Busch products.
“For nearly 70 years we have been truly blessed with the opportunity to forge relationships with suppliers, retailers and communities throughout our territories, and we could not be more proud of the hard work, support and camaraderie demonstrated by our employees each and every day,” said owner Jeffrey Clarke. “We are committed to working closely with Bellavance and NHD to transition as many employees as possible to new positions.”
Details about the how many current employees will be retained were not released. But one employee said most of the approximately 35 people employed at White Mountain Distributors are expected to remain. Clarke CFO Kary Shumway said more information will be released as the closing date nears.
White Mountain Distributors will go from one family-owned company to another. Clarke Distributors was founded in 1949 and is in its third generation of operation. New Hampshire Distributors LLC is also a family-owned distributor celebrating its 70th year in business.
The consolidation will be the second among New Hampshire beer distributors in less than a year. Last June, New Hampshire Distributors brought Great State Beverages, whose territory included the greater Manchester area. At the time, New Hampshire Distributors’ territory covered the Seacoast and Lakes Region.
