BERLIN — Center Josh Pietrantonio opened the scoring for the Berlin River Drivers on a wrap-around that beat Cornwall’s Francis Dupuis at 12:13 of the first period. Pietrantonio's ninth goal of the year was set up by line mates Nick Wright and Jan Salak.
Mitchel Porowski tied the score with 4:27 to play in the opening period. The Cornwall forward pounced on a rebound and beat Berlin goaltender Cory Simons.
MJ Graham was credited with the assist on the Lou Dickenson power play lamp lighter with 2:38 to play in the first period for a 2-1 lead.
Sylvester Bzdyl gave the Nationals a 3-1 lead at 7:40 of the second period. The speedy National forward was sent in all alone on a nice feed from Kris McCarthy. Simons stopped the first shot, but Bzdyl banged in the rebound with a great second effort.
The River Drivers came out flying at the beginning of the third. Berlin enforcer, Nick Wright, netted his third of the year from the slot to get the visitors within one goal. The Wright goal was set up by Yuto Osowa and Pietrantonio. Fourteen seconds later, Pietrantonio scored his second of the contest and tenth of the season to tie the game at 3-3. Osawa and Stanislav Vlasov got the helping markers.

That set up an exciting three-on-three overtime for the second time in two nights. Cornwall controlled the overtime session and outshot Berlin 5-0 in the extra period and 38-37 for the game. These same two teams travel back to Berlin for their third contest in three days.
