Moodie, Rowell, King and Chambers score big wins at Speedway 51

GROVETON — A beautiful Saturday greeted fans and the visiting NEMA Lites and NEAR Antique Racers organizations for a highly-competitive night of racing that was enjoyed by everyone in attendance. Winners on the night included Brendan Moodie, Brett Rowell, Hunter King, Jim Chambers, Norm Cyr and Scott Decosta.

The Perras Ace Hardware Tigers saw Moodie hold off a charging Derrick Calkins over the final 15 laps to secure the victory. Placing third through fifth were Ryan Boutin, John Boutin and Floyd Bennett Jr. Calkins won the qualifying round.

The Caron Fabrication Street Stocks put on their usual great show as Rowell nipped Dean Switser Jr. and Bunker Hodgdon to claim his first win of the season. Kasey Beattie placed fourth and Allan Birch was 5th. Rowell also carried the heat checkers.

King captured his second win of the season in the A.B. Excavating Daredevils, as he edged out Jesse Dunham, Makita Giroux and Alexus Call. Dunham was the lone heat winner.

The NEMA Lites feature was a great race from start to finish, and when it was all said and done, Chambers picked up the win over Dan Cugini, Randy Cabral, Randy Locke and Richie Coy. Decosta claimed the NEAR Modified feature, while Cyr won the NEAR Coupe main event.
