Cutline: 23rd Annual Girl's Hockey Night in Boston

Hockey Night 2Three Berlin girls represented Berlin Ice Hockey at the 23rd Annual Girls Hockey Night in Boston’s Major Showcase held at the Haverhill Valley Forum in Haverhill, Mass., from Aug. 2-5. Hockey Night in Boston is a prep school, college and junior hockey showcase for girls entering their freshman, sophomore, junior or senior year of high school. BHS junior goaltender Lauren Frenette was selected by Team Metro, sophomore defenseman Trinity Gendron was selected by Team Minnesota, and eighth grader Maria Frenette was invited by the Boston Jr. Shamrocks. A total of 13 teams played in three different divisions with each team playing a minimum of five games before an overall winning team is declared. Both Lauren and Trinity competed in the Girls MA/NE Festival June 10-11, a preliminary to be selected for this showcase. Maria Frenette received a direct invitation and did not participate in the preliminary round. Lauren and Trinity will be an important part of the Berlin/Gorham girls ice hockey team this coming season and Maria will be an important part of the Berlin Youth Hockey Bantams team.
