SHELBURNE — A fire Friday morning knocked out Spectrum fiber-optic network, cutting off Internet and cable service to a large number of customers in Coos County.

Spectrum Spokeswoman Lara Pritchard said a “large, old, rotted pine tree” came down approximately 500 feet off the road. The tree landed on primary power lines, causing a fire and damaging their network fiber.
