OSSIPEE — Carroll County's commissioners are warning that a county government shutdown could happen in about a week unless local lawmakers meet and authorize them to spend money. If not, county workers might not get their paychecks March 2.

Commissioner Mark Hounsell (R-Conway) said at the board's Wednesday meeting that a law allows the county treasurer to take on debt in 2018 if the commissioners so order and the delegation approves.
