Jonna Carter: Chris Goes MAGA

Once upon a time, in a land far away, there was a governor who embraced the moral high ground. His vociferous opposition to fascist and future felon Donald Trump was most admirable. But heroes too often have fatal flaws to which they fall victim. This governor’s would appear to be hypocrisy, ambition, and most of all, arrogance.

In the wake of Trump’s securing the Republican nomination, Gov. Chris Sununu has dived so deeply into the cesspool that efforts at resuscitation would likely prove futile. Anyone who finds this about-face surprising hasn’t been paying attention. Disappointing, absolutely, but surprising? Not so much. One can hear Freddie Mercury’s refrain in the background as “Another one bites the dust.”
