To the editor:

While it was good to see a large turnout for the conceptual design conversation at the last planning board meeting regarding the reconstruction and development of of the Red Jacket, I am concerned about why some members of the public are opposed to the project. To be clear, there are many technical and aesthetic issue that need to be resolved before this project goes forward. It was the final comment from the public that is concerning though.

You are 100% right. Our valley is better than that.

I believe you took it out of context.

Folks from India are wonderful people. India is one of the worlds most populated places.

I think the reference was to crowding, stacking, piling up, or packing them in.

Density is not the answer to the housing crisis.

Supply and demand, astronomical mortgage rates, and investment properties held by out of towners looking to cash in on our resources are all reasons our local children and families cannot afford to live here. Our valley is becoming overly congested due to over developement.

You are wrong to bring skin color into this.

Its a non issue....

Not taken out of context whatsoever, John. This lady literally prefaced the comment by saying "I don't care if you say I'm racist...". You don't make that kind of caveat unless you're about to say something insanely racist.

She knew exactly what she meant. The board knew exactly what she meant. The general public and Mr. Patel knew exactly what she meant. And she meant it.
